João Romão（ジョアン・ロマォン）准教授

【教員の紹介】
I completed my PhD in tourism in 2012 and my research was focused on the relation between competitiveness and sustainability of tourism destinations. Before my PhD I worked as a consultant for local and regional authorities in Portugal, focusing on questions related to urban planning or sustainable development. As a researcher, I continued to study these aspects and I included several new topics, like ecotourism, heritage tourism, wellness tourism or transportation issues. I worked as researcher in different countries (Portugal, USA, Netherlands and Japan), which gave me an international perspective of tourism research and education. I also worked with different colleagues and I have 40 publications during the last 8 years. These works were presented in more than 50 academic events and I became a member of several international organizations related to tourism studies or regional science.

I also accumulated different teaching experiences in Portugal and Japan. This experience was focused on topics like tourism economics, wellness tourism, transportations for tourism or contemporary approaches to economic geography. Aspects related to urban planning and sustainable development are always present in my work as a consultant, researcher or professor. I expect to share my experience and knowledge with the students of Yasuda Women's University and also to discuss with them new approaches and perspectives to face the new challenges of contemporary societies. Currently I am teaching tourism and sustainable development, and tourism and culture.
