ハワイ留学中の学生から、ハワイでの休日についてのレポートが届きましたのでご紹介いたします。

I have been in Hawaii for about a week now. It's very fulfilling and fun every day, but I miss Japan a little at the same time. Today I introduce my first free time in Hawaii. Classes at University of Hawaii are from Monday to Thursday and there is a long weekend from Friday to Sunday. I visited some of famous tourist destinations in Hawaii with my friends. On the first day, we went to Ala Moana Shopping Center. There are so many bus routes that we can easily get there, however, buses do not come on time so it's better to move with plenty of spare time. The Ala Moana Shopping Center was very large with a lot of shops and it is one of the tourist destinations Japanese people often visit and there were signs and shops written in Japanese. What surprised me most was the store clerks. When we enter stores, they always say, "Aloha!" with smile. I thought it is the Aloha spirit rooted in Hawaii.
On the second day, I went to Waikiki Beach which was crowded. It was the most beautiful sea I've ever seen. I was impressed by the clear huge blue sky, the pure white sandy beach, and the beautiful clean blue sea. The ocean temperature is moderate and pleasant even in the hot summer-like Hawaiian weather. Sun-shine is so strong that I needed a pair of sunglasses and lots of sunscreen. Now I really understand why Hawaii is so popular. The people of Hawaii are so friendly and kind that they talk to us even in Japanese while I am happy to have many opportunities to speak English. I could enjoy sightseeing in Hawaii and find out the reason why Hawaii is popular. They are not only the location and scenery, but also the personality of Hawaiian people with Aloha Spirit.
