国際観光ビジネス学科の2年生の前半組43名がハワイ留学から帰国して1ヵ月が経ちました。次期の3月上旬から渡航する後半組35名の学生たちの準備も最終段階に入っています。
ここで、帰国した前半組の学生から届いた、留学中のレポートをご紹介します。ハワイの人の温かさや文化に触れ、様々なことを感じたようです。

Hawaiian Culture

　

It's been about two months since I came to Hawaii, and I've experienced a lot of Hawaiian culture. The first thing I discovered is that Hawaiian people are very friendly, and in Hawaii, when you go to a store, there is a small talk between the clerk and the customer. For example, complimenting clothes and recommending spots. At the supermarket near my house, there is a clerk who always talks to me when I go there, and we talk about Japan and weekends and so on. In addition, the bus driver remembers me and talks to me when I get on. I thought it was a very nice culture. The second is that people value what they love. For example, clothing. Their outfits are very varied, from tank tops to colorful shirts and dresses, and when I meet them, I can't help but want to compliment them. I feel that they are very casual. The clerk is eating food while working, the bus driver has a break and talks to the passengers, and they are listening to music while working and they always seem to be having a lot of fun. They also love Hawaiian culture very much and always dance hula and play the ukulele at parties and events. I'm impressed when I see this. The Hawaiian language is also everywhere in the city. 
In these two months, I learned a lot of good things about Hawaii and liked it even more. In the remaining two months, I want to live each day as much as possible so that I can discover more good things about Hawaii.

　

ハワイに来て約二か月経ちました、私はたくさんのハワイ文化に出会いました。一つ目はハワイの人々はとてもフレンドリーということです、ハワイでは店に行くと店員さんとお客さんの間でスモールトークが行われます。例えば、服を褒めたりおススメのスポットを教えてくれたりと、私はたくさんの素敵な人に出会いました。私の家の近くのスーパーには、ある店員さんがいて彼はいつも私がスーパーに行くと話しかけてくれ日本の話や週末の話で盛り上がります。ほかにもいつも乗るバスの運転手は、私のことを覚えてくれていて乗るときに話しかけてくれます。とても素敵な文化だと思いました。
二つ目は、彼らは好きなことを大切にしているということです。例えば、服装です。彼らの服装はとても様々でタンクトップ一枚であったりカラフルなシャツを着ていたりドレスを着ていたり、など個性があり、見かけると思わず褒めたくなります。私は、彼らはとてもラフだなと感じます。店員さんが働きながら食べ物を食べていたり、バスの運転手に休憩時間があり乗客と話をしたり、音楽をかけて仕事をしていたり、といつもとても楽しそうです。また、彼らはハワイの文化をとても大切にしていてパーティーやイベントの時はいつもフラダンスを踊ったりウクレレを演奏したりしています。私はそれを見ると感動します。ハワイの言葉も街中に溢れています。
二か月経って、私はたくさんのハワイの良いところを知ってよりハワイが好きになりました。残りの二か月も、よりハワイの良いところを見つけられるように一日一日を大切に生活したいです。
