Report on Classes with High School Students (2017年度高大連携公開講座)
2017.09.04
On August 2nd and 3rd, we had three classes with 16 wonderful Hiroshima-area high school students. They were all interested in English and they worked so hard. We laughed a lot, practiced all four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking), and had a wonderful time together.
In John's classes, students learned about and practiced various skills needed for translation, using materials such as children's stories and videos. In Taras' classes, students enjoyed learning about American culture, history, and society by using materials taken from popular culture, such as movies like Forrest Gump.
At the end of the course, we had a small party and enjoyed chatting freely in English over some ice cream. In addition, Professor Shima took photographs over the two days and some of them can be seen on this page, with the students' permission.
