Richard Gabbrielli and John McLean August 3-4, 2015

We were very happy to welcome a group of 22 high school students here at Yasuda for two days of practical English classes. The students were very friendly and quite eager to take part in the course. Their level of English was good too!

To enable the students to benefit from the two programs on offer, each class was divided into two periods of 45 minutes (3 classes of 90 minutes in total). The students were placed into two groups (A and B), and they changed classrooms after 45 minutes.

In Richard's class, students could learn about communication strategies and how to manage conversations more effectively to prevent communication breakdown.

In John's class, students could develop their understanding of similarities and differences between English and Japanese while translating two short English stories into Japanese.

The students seemed to have a good time. At the end, we ate ice cream and took photographs together. The students gave us permission to use the photographs for the Department of English Language and Literature's webpage.
