My life in Canada is so exciting! Now I am getting used to life in English and can feel my English is improving. At first I felt it hard that I had to speak only English in ELI, but now I enjoy talking with my foreign friends in English. There are many sightseeing places in Canada. I often go to these places with my host family or my friends on holiday. I went to watch a Canadian football game on September 16th with my friends. This was the Homecoming Game. It is also the first game of this season. It was so fun and seemed like a small festival! There are many ELI programs and I can take part in them. I would like to experience a lot of things in Canada during the next four months.

カナダの生活は毎日刺激的で楽しいです。英語を使う生活にも慣れてきて、来た時よりも自分の英語力の伸びを感じます。最初はELIの中で英語だけの生活をきつく感じましたが、今では違う国の友達と英語で楽しく話せるようになりました。カナダには観光スポットが沢山あって、休日はホストファミリーや友達と一緒に出かけることが多いです。私は９月16日にカナディアンフットボールの試合を観に行きました。この試合はＨｏｍｅＣｏｍｉｎｇＧａｍｅといい、今シーズンの最初の試合のことです。みんなお祭りムードですごく楽しかったです。ELIではたくさんのプログラムがあり、参加することができます。あと４か月弱あるのでたくさん色々なことを経験して帰りたいです。

On Sept. 9th, we took a tour of downtown Vancouver as an official ELI event. ELI students can join various events every week. We have to pay money for most of them, but this tour is free so many new students go every semester. Separating us into some groups, CAs (Culture Assistants, who are working at ELI) guided us there. There is a famous STEAM CLOCK in Gastown. It is powered by steam. Many of you probably know this because it was featured on ItteQ, a Japanese TV program, this August. Last week, it was the 40th birthday of the clock, so it was decorated with some birthday balloons. I feel this is one of the different cultural aspects.

9月9日にELIのイベントとしてダウンタウンツアーがあります。ELIの生徒は毎週イベントに参加することができます。大体はお金がかかりますがこのツアーはフリーでした。いくつかのグループに分かれてELIの学生がダウンタウンを案内してくれます。皆さんの中にも知っている人がいるかもしれませんが、ガスタウンにはスチームクロックという蒸気で動いている時計があります。これは「イッテQ」という番組で紹介されています。先週はこの時計の四十周年記念日だったらしくハッピーバースデーの風船がつけられていました。こういうところはカナダらしいと思いました。
