On August 4th, we held three 90-minute classes with 52 energetic and lively high school students. This year, we had a really large group and had lots of fun!
In Andrea's class, students learned about, and then practiced, the various skills needed for translation, using materials such as children's stories.
In Taras' class, students learned about the life of Walt Disney and the connection between Disney and American Literature, focusing upon the work of Mark Twain (in particular, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn).
In John's class, students were introduced to the world of subtitling and they had the chance to create their own subtitles for short animation clips. All of these classes demonstrated how students can try different approaches to activating, improving, and enjoying their English skills.
During the individual class sessions, we took a few photographs, which you can see on this page (with the students' permission). It was a great day and we hope to see all of the students again on our campus!
