The Japanese Cultural Fair
Ayaka Fujimoto
We held Japanese Culture Fair at University of Hawaii Manoa campus on April 28. We were divided into 19 booths and introduced various Japanese cultural things. Our group opened a tea ceremony booth.
Unfortunately according to UH rules, we couldn't serve any tea or Japanese confectionery to guests.
However, many guests looked at what I performed and had a go to do so. Teachers said, "you can give the individual packaged confectionery to guest if it is not opened. " So we gave monaka (Japanese rice cake) or salt candy to guests as a souvenir. They were so glad.
One thing I regret is that I couldn't explain tea ceremony and Japanese confectionery well, so I wanted to improve my English much more. It was hard to prepare for tea ceremony goods, but it was a great opportunity to introduce the tea ceremony. If I have opportunities to do it again, I actually would like every guest to taste my Matcha which is so delicious!
