On Sunday, 10/21/2018, 38 students and 2 teachers attended the Department Seminar Study-Trip to Onomichi. The chartered bus trip from Hiroshima station went smoothly with the 1st year leaders explaining the schedule and introducing the study-trip brochure.
The purpose of the trip was to introduce a traditional tourist destination in Hiroshima which is trying to attract more tourists from within Japan as well as inbound tourism. Onomichi has a lot of history and tradition, but also has new, innovative and modern aspects of tourism to study.

My impression was that most students enjoyed themselves as well as learned a lot about tourism and business while experiencing being a tourist themselves. Learning to be a good tourist is a good way to better understand the needs of tourists which help them in future providing goods and services to tourists.

In the surveys, the students overwhelmingly wrote that they appreciated their chance to study tourism and business in Onomichi. They felt the schedule of the trip was good and the information provided in the booklet was judged to be useful for them to get an orientation to Onomichi. 77.3% (34) of students felt that the Onomichi trip was "wonderful" and the lowest ranking response was 7 out of 10.
