児童教育学科では小学校教員希望者は学内選考に合格することで、学部・大学院5年一貫コースに進むことができます。その中でも「英語教育実践」を選択する学生は4年次の後期に米国カリフォルニア州にあるカリフォルニア大学デイヴィス校に留学します。今年度は２期生１名の学生の留学が始まりました。以下、現在留学している学生のアメリカ体験記です。ぜひ御覧ください。

アメリカに到着してから１週間が経ちました。時差ボケで眠れない日もありましたが、少しずつ新しい生活に慣れてきました。私は現在、カリフォルニア大学デイヴィス校（UCD）があるデイヴィスという町で暮らしています。気温は日本と同じくらいですが、乾いた気候です。大学へは毎日自転車で通っています。デイヴィスは自転車の町として知られており、道が平らでバイクレーンも多いため、町の中を快適かつ安全に走ることができます。休日にはサイクリングをしながらデイヴィスの魅力的なお店を巡っています。アメリカでの毎日は、新しい発見や異文化に触れる機会にあふれており、とても刺激的で学びの多い時間です。英語でのコミュニケーションに苦労することもありますが、友人や先生との会話の中で積極的に英語を使うようにしています。これからも日々の経験を通して英語力を高め、言語だけでなく文化への理解も深めていきたいと思います。（桑原可奈）

It's been a week since I arrived in the United States. Although I had a few sleepless nights because of jet lag, I'm gradually getting used to my new life here. I'm currently living in Davis, the city where the University of California, Davis (UCD) is located. The temperature is about the same as in Japan, but the air is much drier. I ride my bike to school every day. Davis is known as "the city of bicycles," and since the roads are flat and there are many bike lanes, it's very comfortable and safe to ride around town. On weekends, I enjoy cycling and visiting some of the charming local shops in Davis. Every day in the U.S. brings new discoveries and opportunities to experience different cultures, making my time here both exciting and full of learning. Although I sometimes struggle to communicate in English, I try to use it actively when talking with friends and teachers. Through these daily experiences, I hope to keep improving my English skills and deepen my understanding not only of the language but also of the culture.

キャンパスは広く、自然豊かな場所です。自転車やスクーターで移動する学生が多くいます。

休日はfarmers marketに行きました。食材が売られているだけでなく屋台もあります。私はホットドッグを食べました。
