Graduation speech
Aya Yuda

When I was in Japan, I really didn't like studying. I had no dreams. I just spent my days sleeping during the class, doing part time jobs, watching TV, and playing with phone, and I didn't like myself that much because I didn't know the reason for going to college. But this study abroad changed me.

I came to Hawaii with a lot of expectations and was full of anxiety. I didn't have confidence in myself. This feeling made me think strongly that I want to change.

In these 5 months, everything I experienced was new to me. For example, small class style, many presentation, and internship. I challenged everything I did positively and tried to have fun because I didn't want to regret any time I spent here, so I worked hard. Studying abroad is not always easy. There were many times, I was worried and was disappointed about my English skills and human relations. When I want to express my feelings and ideas, sometimes I can't find the words. At other time, sometimes I was told something bad and it made me hurt. I often told my friends around me. They always helped me giving advice.

After 5 months, I realized what I want to do in my future. I want to work related to fashion using English. Now, I understand that all this trouble was just a way for me to find my dream.
I want to tell future HELP-Yasuda students to believe in yourself and focus on your goals and help each other around you. Because friends are very important for my life.

In this study abroad, especially in my 300 level class, we got motivation from each other. We were great friends both in joy and sorrow. I learned it is important to catch chances and opportunities for myself, because waiting doesn't always mean it will come. You will not gain anything without action. Also Gina told me, don't compare yourself to anyone, be yourself.

Best memory in Hawaii was being able to study at HELP, and meet great teachers and friends. There truly is no substitute in that for me.

Hawaii, it is a beautiful, scenic place, where the people have warm hearts. I will never forget this memory and this place. Mahala nui loa
