Grade 4 students had a guest, Davi-chan, from Guinea come and teach them about Guinean culture, language, and music. In the class before the event, they researched about Guinea and learned that people in Guinea also eat rice, just like Japanese people. But when they watched the slideshow and heard Davi-chan tell them about life in Guinea, they were surprised to learn so many new things. The internet is useful for researching many things, but it's important to hear from the people who actually live this life.
After a short break, Davi-chan and his wife Yoko-san changed clothes and did a djembe drum performance. Students performed with them by using the maracas they made at home out of plastic bottles, beads, rice, beans, and other things. Some students even got the chance to play a djembe with Davi-chan on stage!
