The grade 6 students spent the past few weeks learning a fairytale in English. They practiced the English and voices with the English teachers and then spent a lot of time practicing at home with a voice recording.

In today's event, the students read these stories to the grade 1 and 2 students who were eager to listen. The grade 6 students gave a short explanation in Japanese before reading the book in English. At the end, they quizzed the grade 1 and 2 students to check that they understood the story. We also had special guest presentations from New Zealand exchange students. It was a very fun event for the younger kids and a rewarding experience for the older ones.

６年生は１，２年生に英語の本を読み聞かせする"Reading Festival"を行いました。ほとんどの６年生は今まで小さい子どもに英語を読み聞かせするような経験はありませんでしたが、楽しんでもらえるように練習しました。声の調子まで変えて工夫している児童もおり、１，２年生はその姿を見て憧れ、感心していました。
