ハワイの「2018 HIBISCUS」参加学生から、ハワイ州議会議場への訪問や、ホームステイの様子についてのレポートが届きました。

I would like to explain about the capitol building. This building is state capitol. This building has a courtyard of columns and is designed to look like Hawaii's volcano. And this has poles like trees, and a blue carpet like oceans inside. So this building images show all of Hawaiian natures. Next, this has door which is written "ALOHA KAKOU" "E-KOMO-MAI" at 2 floor. ALOHA KAKOU means hello everyone, E-KOMO-MAI expresses welcome. So this building welcomes people who visit Hawaii. Many sightseeing people, like Japanese, don't usually visit there. That place is not in the top of Hawaii's popularity ranking. The reason is because that people don't know about it there. In others words, if we give more information to many people, this place will be visited by them. For example, we have to show about there on the Hawaiian Websites, maps, brochures and so on. We have to more appeal to be visited by many sightseeing people. I was impressed when I heard this building is "Hawaiian House", so I want it to be visited by many people.



DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAWAII AND JAPAN

私は日本からお土産を持ってきましたが、そのほとんどがハワイで売られているもので驚きました。日本文化は予想以上にハワイに広がっていることがわかりました。他にも、ショップの店員やバスの運転手は歌ったり、踊ったり、バス停でトイレに行ったりと、日本では失礼に思われるかもしれないことが、ここハワイでは普通に行われ、これが文化の違いと思うと楽しいです。また、ハワイには様々な人々が住んでいます。友達は中国系アメリカ人のホストファミリーと一緒に暮らしています。別の家族はスペイン語を話すことができます。広島の方言を使っている人がいたという話も聞きました。スーパーにも心配していたよりもいろいろなものが売ってあり、ハワイの中でも色々な国が感じられます。この留学を通してハワイの魅力をもっと勉強して行きたいです。
